TIME CAPSULE

AIRAH will assemble a 2020–21 time capsule to celebrate our Centenary anniversary. This will be sealed at The Future of HVAC 2021, taking place in Sydney, NSW from Sep 8–9.

We are currently taking suggestions as to what should go inside it! If you have any ideas or contributions, please email [email protected]

In 1995, as part of AIRAH's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, AIRAH staff assembled and sealed a 75th anniversary time capsule.

What was inside it? We found at on May 17, 2021, when the time capsule was opened at AIRAH's Refrigeration 2021 Conference in Melbourne.

The time capsule was well sealed, with fibreglass covering insulation, wrapped around a metal box.

“It was a wonderful piece of over-engineering,” says Brendan Pejkovic, who – with the help of Marvel Stadium staff; AIRAH CEO Tony Gleeson, M.AIRAH; and past national President John Shewan, F.AIRAH – cracked open the time capsule.

What they found were sundry items, including: a full print-out of the AIRAH members database; various AIRAH state newsletters; newspapers from 1995 – including one that had a full-page advert about the AIRAH Exhibition (which later turned into ARBS); an IRHACE journal (but curiously, no AIRAH journals); AIRAH NSW divisional finances from the state office; and photos of the old AIRAH office in Carlton.
