AIRAH'S 100 FACES

#096

Frank Seeley, Affil.AIRAH

Picture
After starting out in 1972 in the garage of his home, Frank Seeley, Affil.AIRAH, has grown his business to become a global leader in the HVAC manufacturing industry.

The founder and chairman of Seeley International is regarded as an entrepreneur, innovator, businessman, and philanthropist.

Seeley started at Adelaide Technical High School with a grounding in metal, woodwork, and technical drawing. This would serve as a solid foundation for his professional future.

He sold portable air conditioners in the late 1960s before beginning to build them himself.

Seeley would manufacture 1,000 AC units in his first year.

To avoid the issue of corrosion, he would also go on to introduce the innovation of all-plastic coolers. The model was adopted as the industry standard and helped to grow the local rooftop cooling market from 12,000 coolers a year to over five times that.

As a firm believer in Australia’s business potential, Seeley has championed innovation. He has been recognised by many awards for export, design, and sustainability – including AIRAH Awards for Excellence in Sustainability and Best HVAC Retrofit or Upgrade.
The company now has sales offices in the US, UK, Italy, France, and South Africa, with exports being dispatched to more than 120 countries through its global distributor network.

But even with this global reach, Seeley remains committed to calling Adelaide the home of his business.

The company’s South Australian headquarters is a leading local employer of over 500 people at four manufacturing facilities, turning out more than 80,000 products and 1.5 million components each year.
