Brian Keith James

1927–1992

Brian Keith James was the first full-time qualified refrigeration fitting tradesperson appointed to trade training in TAFE WA. He dedicated his life to the industry and, in particular, apprentice training.

James was AIRAH’s WA division president in 1968, and again from 1982–1983.

AIRAH WA, in conjunction with industry, established the “B K James Award” as a memorial to James for his tireless efforts in apprentice training. It is presented annually at the WA Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Awards Night, a joint industry event by AMCA, AIRAH, South Metro TAFE, and the Alan Robert Memorial Fund.

James authored/compiled:

  • Refrigeration and air conditioning, book 3
  • Refrigeration and air conditioning, book 4
  • Refrigeration fitting, stage 3
